Rough weather over the dark mountains of the Isle Rough weather over the dark mountains of the Isle of Arran, Scotland.

The weather turned rough towards the end of my stay at Campbeltown back in late September. This image was taken at the very windy CalMac ferry terminal at Claonaig that was closed due to the high winds. The ferry had gone over to using its winter route from Lochranza to Tarbert for the day.

Scotland has a bit of a reputation for rain and wild weather, rather unfairly i think, but occasionally you do bump into the wild and windy weather events. Its the perfect opportunity to have all the cobwebs blown away. At least you can see the rain coming giving you the chance to dash to the car.

The windsock was on the harbour at Claonaig, which is the destination for the CalMac ferry from Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. It will come as no surprise that due to the strong winds the ferry went over to its winter route running to Tarbet instead.

A few weeks ago (11th Sept) i posted an image shot with my mobile showing this couple taking a rest in the bus shelter. This image was shot using my DSLR shortly after.

The couple were just using the shelter to get out of the sporadic rain. They were later joined by the couple who'd been eating a meal around the barrel in the foreground - a table at the cafe opposite. Most bus shelters on Arran have chairs of some kind. I've also seen it in other areas of Scotland too.

Fortunately i was able to shot a few images without being noticed. It's amazing how discrete i can be with a camera :)

Ailsa Craig is an island in the outer Firth of Clyde, 16 km (8+1⁄2 nmi) west of mainland Scotland, upon which microgranite has long been quarried to make curling stones.

Today it a bird sanctuary, providing a home for huge numbers of gannets and an increasing number of puffins.

I'm now back home after a rather long car journey yesterday. I'll be adding more images from my trip over the coming weeks and months.

Almost time to go home. Currently packing ready for thr long car journey tomorrow. No ferry ride short cuts sadly due to the Campbeltown route to Ardrossan being cancelled all summer.

It's been fun. Even the dramatic weather has provided some great seas and skies to photograph. Lots of images to sort through when I get back home and post here over the coming weeks.

Hope the be back in Campbeltown soon 🙂

Scotland has some wonderful coastline, a lot of wh Scotland has some wonderful coastline, a lot of which requires a little effort to discover.

The stretch of coastline was near a village called Grogport. I wonder if the superb name came from potential past activities to do with alcohol deliveries?

The weather was on the changeable side but that's the great thing about Scotland. You never quite know what you might get and it adds some drama to the sea and skies.

The weather has been very changeable over the last couple of days with rain and strong winds. The waves were quite big at this location coming in quite violently along the coast.

With the wind and the waves it felt like the cobwebs were being blown away. A great way to enjoy the experiences that nature has to offer.

The old telegraph poles seemed to have been left as a cliff edge barrier in the car park.

Ailsa Craig through the mist and rain. Firth of Cl Ailsa Craig through the mist and rain. Firth of Clyde, Scotland.

Rocky coast line near Grogport, Argyll and Bute, S Rocky coast line near Grogport, Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

A stack of telegraph poles acting as a barrier at A stack of telegraph poles acting as a barrier at a car park. Near Westport just a few miles from Campbeltown.
