          The Horses of Hassendean, Scottish Borders. The n The Horses of Hassendean, Scottish Borders.

The narrow field behind the white horse marks the route of a long closed railway line from Hawick (pronounced Hoyk) to Carlisle as part of the Waverley line. 

The Hawick to Carlisle section of the line opened in 1862 and operated for just over a hundred years until its closure in 1969 as a result of the Beeching Report.

          It's been a bit of a rough winter. I think we can It's been a bit of a rough winter. I think we can all identify, just a little, with the battered but resilient Saltire flag proudly, defiantly fluttering away in the rough winds at Carter Bar on the Scottish Border last week.

One slightly annoying issue from.viewing the video was I noticed the mass of visitor stickers all over the flagpole that I missed looking at closer. Another time. Another visit. Hopefully it will be less windy.

It's not always easy to pick between the colour and black and white versions of my Lindisfarne images so i'm not even trying. I'll post both!

One thing I do know. I don't want it to be another 33 years before my next visit!

The narrow field behind the white horse marks the route of a long closed railway line from Hawick (pronounced Hoyk) to Carlisle as part of the Waverley line. 

The Hawick to Carlisle section of the line opened in 1862 and operated for just over a hundred years until its closure in 1969 as a result of the Beeching Report.

It's been a bit of a rough winter. I think we can It's been a bit of a rough winter. I think we can all identify, just a little, with the battered but resilient Saltire flag proudly, defiantly fluttering away in the rough winds at Carter Bar on the Scottish Border last week.

One slightly annoying issue from.viewing the video was I noticed the mass of visitor stickers all over the flagpole that I missed looking at closer. Another time. Another visit. Hopefully it will be less windy.
