Website redesign: Phase Two

After a few days in maintenance mode, the website has returned with a new design. I’m pleased with the results. The website will be easier to update and expand – more about the site expansion very soon.

Next up, we have phase two which is aimed solely at an upgrade of the portfolio. The new system will use the Slideshow Pro system and allow viewing on the iPad and any mobile devices. Along with the portfolio, and series of pages will be introduced under the title ‘featured photography’ where images and text will give a better insight into the work. Think of it as an in-depth expansion of the portfolio

The portfolio upgrade will start this month and continue into 2012. The ‘featured photography’ pages will start to appear on the website next year.

The New Website

So here it is. The news area of the website. Just one of a number of improvements that have been added with the redesign of the website. The News area is the blog for this website and doesn’t replace the Richard Flint Photography Blog. Any new pages, changes to the website or exciting additions to the functionality of the website will be reported here. I may also add a few comments every now and again.

So why the new website style? The old design was OK, wasn’t it? Well, yes, but a number of factors came into play that mean’t that the old theme was becoming problematic (lack of support, bugs and other issues) but the biggest reason was flexibility. The new website design enables new components like video, galleries and more to be added in the blink of an eye.

The first phase of this project concerns the redesign of the whole site. Phase two is more specific – the implementation of a new gallery slideshow system that can be viewed on a variety of systems from Desktop to mobile phone.
