Going, Going… Gone

Nearly the end of January (how time flies by!) and time to mention number of changes have been made over the last few weeks, as part of a streamlining of my social media and online presence for 2018.

During the latter part of 2017, i decided that i was going to reduce my social media usage and concentrate on certain platforms, rather than try and cover several accounts. The decision was also influenced by an increasing weariness with social media. Twitter and Instagram accounts will be the main accounts with an increase in postings to Instagram.

The services that have been archived or deleted are:-

AudioBoom – the page has been archived but will no longer have new recordings added to it. Any new recordings will be added to the current podcast feed.

Photography Printshop – The website that was no longer required. It has been replaced with the print shop on the this website. The site was deleted.

darker-skies.com domain –  I was never completely satisfied with the domain address, so it has been removed. The Darker Skies blog now has the default WordPress address of darkerskies.wordpress.com that will be used for the foreseeable future.

Paperli – An online paper that was published everyday at 6pm UTC linked on Twitter. This paper has been deleted after quite a few years of use. In the end, the relevance of the paper seemed to have passed by and the content filters were increasing failing to adequately filter out news that was not photography related.

Welcome to the Website

Glencoe, Highlands of Scotland, 2015

It’s been around a year since the new website design was launched and over the last 12 months a number of changes and improvements have been made to the site.

This year the focus has been on speeding up the website, improving the menu system and adding a new slideshow system to the gallery. The biggest, and most exciting change however will arrive next month when the website will feature a shop where prints can be purchased direct from my good self.

Powered by the Woocommerce system and using PayPal for payment, the store will initially contain a limited series of 20×16 inch framed prints, starting with my Scotland landscapes (including the shot of Glencoe seen above), that will be numbered and signed. I’m keeping things simple to start with but I will  add other items at a later date along with new print finishes etc.

The second big change concerns the news section itself. I’ve decided to add more posts to the site and broaden the current remit of the news section to include posts with new photography, video and audio. The news area of the website is being underused at the moment and the change will make the news section more dynamic and varied.

Both the shop and the news changes will come into effect in June.
