The Norfolk project photobook is currently being developed into a book with this page set up to provide updates about the progress of the book.

The Project Book

The Norfolk project officially started in 2001 with the idea to document an English county and to start a long-term photography project. However, the project roots stem from images taken between 1998 and 2001.

A photobook seems the perfect format to present the first phase of the project. However, the size of the project has caused problems with book development over the last few years. The biggest headache was what images to include but finally, the idea has been narrowed down to start with the core black and white images.

A number of Norfolk Project books are planned to follow over the next few years using colour and monochrome images shot from 1998 to 2011.

Layout and Design

The first book will probably feature around 40 monochrome images shot in landscape and documentary styles. The photographs were shot on 35mm, 6×4.5 and 6×6 format cameras between 1998 and 2011.

A variety of locations around Norfolk will feature in the book including Sheringham, Brancaster Staithe, Burnham Overy Staithe and Cromer.

Currently, the layouts, text and narratives are being developed. With the completion of the Caught by the Tide photo zine, the first stages of book design for the Norfolk project have begun. The book will contain sections with 6×6, 645 and 35mm black and white images.

The book layout images seen on this page represent just early design ideas from 2013.
