Family History Archive Website

Family history research has become very popular in recent years, encouraged by a wide variety of ancestry research websites available online and TV shows such as the BBC’s popular series Who Do You Think You Are?

Recently I was asked to build a website that could serve as an extensive online family history archive for the Dudziński family. The completed website launched recently and contains detailed family histories, documents archive, photographs and even a collection of favourite family recipes. Sensitive information such as contact details, birthdays etc has been hidden behind secure password protection on specific pages. A PDF viewer has been used to provide an easy way to view the family tree document with an option to download the file if required.

The Dudziński Family Website can be found at https://www.dudzinskifamily.org/

Norfolk Photozine Release Next Week

By |2019-07-01T22:42:12+01:00July 1st, 2019|Categories: News|Tags: , , , , , , |

After a delay due to ill health, I’m pleased to announce that the photo zine ‘Caught by the Tide’ will be released next week.

The Zine

The 24-page photo zine will contain nineteen images shot in Norfolk during a week-long visit in September 2016. Sadly the trip was to give my terminally ill mother a final family holiday. Shooting the images provided a small amount of escape.

Most of the recent work has been focussed around the text and setting the right tone for the zine. The images were taken during a very tough year, both emotionally and mentally and the text needs to reflect that period without being too gloomy. Not easy given the circumstances.

Finishing Touches

So this week will see the finishing touches made to the text before the zine is sent off. A web page will then be added to the website so that ‘Caught by the Tide’ can be purchased. More details about the price and where to purchase the zine will follow.

Zine Podcast

After release I’ll be recording a podcast about the zine and the photographs that will be released later this month.

Moving Hosts

Last year, a website was set up on WordPress.com for a client,
The Art of Living and Dying, a group of women helping those facing life’s highs and lows with practical information and professional support. The group required a single page website for event and contact information.

Over the weekend, the website was quickly moved over to a self hosted WordPress install to give the site a full range of functionality and customisation options that a self hosted WordPress installation provides.

The domain name changed too with the Art of Living and Dying now found at https://www.theartoflivinganddying.co.uk

Picfair Top Ten Pick

I was very pleased when last week one of my photographs was featured on the Picfair blog in the post ‘Picfair’s Top 10 Image Uploads of the Week: 9th March‘.

The photograph was a recent image upload to Picfair shot during a snowstorm while walking in Consett, a town in the north east of England, at the start of the ‘Beast from the East’ winter storm that took hold of much of the UK in late February and early March. The photo was taken on the way back from shopping in the town, just as the snowfall had started to increase.

The image was also featured on the Picfair Twitter feed on March 8th.

Nearly eighty images by Richard Flint are currently available to license for editorial and commercial use at https://www.picfair.com/users/richflintphoto
